The islands are placed at the crossroads of the North Sea. Scheduled air and sea connections are frequent, convenient and comfortable. Less than one hour flying time from Aberdeen, and just over one hour from Edinburgh, Shetland is within easy reach of the UK mainland and connecting routes. New state-of-the-art ships operate daily from Aberdeen. The ships are well equipped with comfortable cabins for the overnight journey and a large deck for the all-important vehicle. The fleet of modern ferries provide a very high standard of comfort and meet and exceed all the latest safety requirements. The frequency of the service and sailing times have been carefully prepared for your convenience to make travel to the northern isles more simple and enjoyable than ever before. Special travel and accommodation rates provide convenient and economical arrangement for those travelling to the show from outwith the islands. The main port of departure from the Scottish Mainland is Aberdeen but visitors can also include the Orkney Islands in their itinerary if time permits. A number of tour options are available, depending on route and length of stay etc. See inclusive travel & accommodation arrangements in Show Information. Shetland offers a wide range of accommodation from quality hotels, guest houses and friendly Bed & Breakfast to hostels, cottages, camping bods, etc. A modern camp site is part of the facilities at the Clickimin Leisure Complex.
