Shetland Classic Motor Show 2010 Accompanied Tours
An added extra for Shetland Classic Motor Show visitors is the option to take part in one of our accompanied tours to various attractions across Mainland Shetland. These are scheduled over a four day period, excluding the actual show days. A leisurely pace is set to ensure that neither participant nor vehicle feels hurried and there are regular tea stops and a hearty lunch on offer.
The South Mainland Tour includes an opportunity to view Mousa Broch which is the finest surviving example of an Iron Age tower built over two thousand years ago, then on to the Hoswick Visitor Centre which includes a café. The next stop is the Croft House Museum in Dunrossness followed by a visit to the RSPB Sumburgh Head Nature Reserve before heading to the Sumburgh Hotel for lunch. The first stop of the afternoon is the Quendale Water Mill, a fascinating museum of agricultural history in a beautifully restored historic building then on to view St.Ninian’s Isle which is connected to the mainland by the finest example of a sand tombolo in Europe.
The tour of the West and North Mainland takes you to some breathtaking viewpoints and a visit to the Shetland Jewellery Workshop where there is an opportunity to see Jewellery being made and get a cup of tea. Then on to “The Cabin” which is a war museum set up by the late Andy Robertson, himself a war veteran. All this will have worked up an appetite for lunch at the Mid Brae Inn before heading off to view the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal before heading back to Lerwick.
All tours depart from Lerwick at approx 8.15am returning around 4.00pm. Two representatives from the show will accompany each tour to provide information and assistance for participants, full itinerary details and tour dates are available on the booking forms.
